A waypoint scramble is a kind of motorcycle scavenger hunt. Similar to Geocaching. Participants can map out and plan their routes for maximum points or just open Rever, start recording, and see where the day takes them. It's a choose your own adventure event. Points are scored by navigating to a waypoint while recording using the Rever app. A .GPX file will be available for those who wish to use their favorite device or app to navigate. Rever must record the waypoint for scoring purposes. Alternately, those who want a less competative and more relaxed ride can just fire up Rever and use it to go from point to point.
CARDINAL RULE. Participants must be registered through Eventbrite to be eligible for recognition and prizes. To register, go to

1. This is a MOTORCYCLE event. Three wheels are acceptable but not four.
2. This is a RIDING event. No trailering after the event start is allowed.
3. Teams must ride together at all times.
4. Scoring is done through the REVER mobile application. Navigation can be accomplished by any means but waypoints can only be scored through REVER.
5. Ride at your own risk. All routes have been ridden and deemed appropriate for this event however, conditions may have changed since waypoints were designated. A satellite communicator is HIGHLY encouraged. There is NO cell coverage in most of the waypoint locations.
6. Be self sufficient. Riders MUST be self sufficient. There is NO support for this event. Riders are encouraged to bring plenty of water and resupply often. Riders will need to plan food and fuel stops. Bring spare parts, tools and first aid supplies as needed.
7. Have fun. This is less a competition and more a buddy ride. Most waypoints are in areas where disbursed camping is readily available and highly encouraged.
Rever is an application available on Android and Apple devices. It has many functions but for this event we will be using it to record our rides and waypoints for scoring. The Crooked Raven Waypoint Scramble will be available as a "challenge" under the "participate" section of the app. It's free to download and use to record challenges however, there are many features available to premium users you might find useful. For this event simply install the event and create a profile. Click on "Participate" then look for the Crooked Raven Waypoint Scramble and join the challenge. Once that's done you just hit record when you start riding and save the recording at the end of the day. Your waypoints will be uploaded and scored. Pro tip: You might want to run your device in airplane mode while recording and periodically stop and upload your track recordings throughout the day when cell service is available.
Any motorcycle can participate. An Adventure class motorcycle or dual sport would be best suited to visit levels 2 and 3 waypoints. Over half the waypoints are paved and designated level 1. So a road only bike is perfectly suited for those.
You will need an Apple or Android device running the REVER app to record your waypoint finds. Cell service is not required. The app will record "offline" and update when cell service is available. A .GPX file will be available for download 24 hrs prior to the event start so you may navigate or plan your route with any device you like. However, waypoints must be recorded by REVER to count for scoring.
No. The point of this event is to practice and stretch your navigation skills. The GPX file you will get only has the waypoints in it. How you get to each of those waypoints is up to you.
